Following a robust assessment process, 26 projects were approved, with total funding awarded of \u00a31,286,302.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Highly competitive<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Councillor Mark Pritchard, Leader of Wrexham Council and Chair of Ambition North Wales, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis is an exciting milestone for Wrexham and I\u2019m delighted to see our first round of grants being allocated. Initiatives like this will play a vital role in driving economic growth, helping to create high-quality jobs and strengthening the region\u2019s position as a powerhouse for advanced manufacturing in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an exciting time and I\u2019d like to reiterate my thanks to both the UK and Welsh governments for backing the Investment Zone.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The first round of funding was highly competitive, with businesses required to clearly demonstrate how their projects contribute to three core Investment Zone objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating up to 6,000 new jobs across Flintshire and Wrexham<\/li>\n<li>Securing \u00a31 billion in private sector investment<\/li>\n<li>Developing over 5.5 million square feet of commercial space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants were also required to provide at least 30% match funding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Councillor Nigel Williams, Lead Member for Economy, Business and Tourism, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs a council we want to support local businesses to grow and succeed.
