Employer Requirements and Enrolment
Business Eligibility
- All sizes and sectors of businesses in Wales are eligible to host degree apprentices.
- The apprentice must be employed in Wales for at least 51% of their time.
- The role must align with the apprenticeship framework and support the apprentice’s learning.
- Employers must work with a contracted training provider or university.
Employer Responsibilities
- Provide a contract of employment for the duration of the apprenticeship.
- Pay the apprentice’s salary.
- Assign a workplace mentor.
- Collaborate with the provider on progress reviews and assessments.
Enrolment Process
- Contact a university or provider to discuss programme options.
- Confirm eligibility and programme fit.
- Apprentice applies and is enrolled via the admissions/onboarding process.
- Funding is arranged through the Welsh Government (no levy account required).
- Apprenticeship agreement is signed between employer, apprentice, and provider.
