Work Based Learning
Discover how apprenticeships and work experience can provide valuable hands-on training and support for your future workforce.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships in Wales are fully funded by Welsh Government and are available to businesses of any size or sector. In Wales, employers do not manage levy accounts, and all training costs are funded directly through approved providers.
Apprenticeships are available to new or existing staff. To be eligible, an apprentice must:
-
Live and/or work in Wales and be aged 16+
- Spend at least 51% of their working hours in Wales
- Be employed for the duration of the apprenticeship
The employer is responsible for paying the apprentice’s salary, with incentives available for employing people with a disability.
Apprenticeship Benefits

- Higher productivity: New skills and fresh ideas.
- Better retention: Staff feel valued and stay longer.
