Employing people with Learning Disabilities

Supported employment is an evidence-based approach to helping people with learning disabilities and other disabilities find, get, learn, and keep paid jobs.

It also helps employers hire and support these individuals effectively, and includes finding the right job match, providing training, and ensuring long-term success for both employees and employers.

In North Wales, supported employment services are free and offer a comprehensive package of support for both jobseekers and employers.

The service is delivered by specially trained job coaches, and if you work with us, you will be allocated a dedicated job coach who will stay with you as long as you continue to employ one of our jobseekers.

• Finding the right employee for your job vacancy
• Helping you make reasonable adjustments to the recruitment process and the job role (if required)
• Applying to the national Access to Work fund to cover the costs of reasonable adjustments
• Providing hands-on in-work support to both the employee, employer, and their staff. (For example, we can train your new employee to do their job to the standards you require.)
• Providing long-term support to you and your employee. (As long as you continue to employ our jobseeker, we will be on hand to help with any concerns and also career development.)

• Using an individualised approach, our job coaches work intensively with job seekers to identify their skills, abilities, and aspirations in order to achieve a good job match.
• Actively marketing our jobseeker to employers and supporting both through every step of the recruitment process.
• Providing in-the-workplace support with induction and training (if required).
• Customising the support we provide to the needs of both the employee and the employer.
