Work Based Learning

Discover how apprenticeships and work experience can provide valuable hands-on training and support for your future workforce.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships in Wales are fully funded by Welsh Government and available to businesses of any size or sector.

Apprenticeships are open to new or existing staff. To be eligible, an apprentice must:

  • Live and/or work in Wales and be aged 16+
  • Spend at least 51% of their working hours in Wales
  • Be employed for the full duration of the apprenticeship

Employers do not manage levy accounts in Wales, training costs are covered directly through approved providers. Employers only pay the apprentice’s salary, with incentives available for hiring people with a disability.

  • Lower costs: Affordable way to recruit and train.
  • Higher productivity: New skills and fresh ideas.
  • Better retention: Staff feel valued and stay longer.
